Monday was spent covering Team Canada at the FIBA World Championships. The team fell behind early, came back and took a lead in the third quarter before falling to the Croatians.
The game was held at North Shore Entertainment Centre, which featured added lighting for the competition. The added light was really appreciated and the fan support for the Croatians was unreal.
Following the Canada v. Croatia game, I took in the Spain v. Argentina game. It was alright but, no Ricky Rubio.
Tuesday morning featured an early trip to the Airport and a plane ride with New Zealand Air to Queenstown. They showed us their new safety video that is causing some controversy right now. I got the pleasure of an emergency exit seat with additional leg room and a view of the mountains. Queenstown was a balmy -1 and I had to have information call six different hostels to get me a room.
I dropped my stuff and headed for the trail that led up to the Gondola. It took about an hour to get to the top but, the views were awesome.
Queenstown is definately a Whistler/Banff type of town. With the NZ school holidays starting yesterday, it is chaos here.
I took the Gondola back down, hit up the supermarket and now I'm chilling and watching Rush Hour 2 with the rest of the hostel.
Heading out to Milford Sound tomorrow - tried to go to Doubtful Sound but, apparently it is fully booked for Wednesday.
